My Fall 2023 Reading List

09.09.23

The fall is when I get my best reading done. It gets darker earlier and I find myself staying up later, usually totally engrossed in a book. Thrillers are primarily what I reach for during the “ber” months with a few historical fictions sprinkled in there too. I’m very much a seasonal reader so I like my books to match the vibe of the season. Here are a few books that I have on my fall TBR:

1. None of This is True by Lisa Jewell (currently reading)

Lisa Jewell is known for her thrillers and fast-paced reads. I’m currently reading this and I’m hooked! I didn’t read too much about this book before picking it up (something I don’t do often) and I’m really liking the outcome of going in completely blind.

2. The Only One Left by Riley Sager

I have a love / hate relationship with Riley Sager to be honest. A couple of years ago I read Survive the Night by him and I didn’t enjoy it. However, SO many people like his thrillers and every year it seems like he comes out with another novel that takes the internet by storm -I also have Lock Every Door by him on my list.

3. The Last Word by Taylor Adams

Quite a few of the booktubers I watch have all started reading this! Set on the rainy Washington coast, Emma and her golden retriever are house sitting an old beach house. After finishing a poorly written novel, Emma posts a one-star book review that ultimately turns into an online argument with the author of the book itself. After the odd interaction, weird things start happening around the home that cannot be simple coincidences. A quiet evening by the sea quickly turns into a game of cat and mouse.

4. What Lies in the Woods by Kate Alice Marshall

Last fall I read These Fleeting Shadows by Marshall, a YA mystery-fantasy, and really loved her writing style. This book is the author’s first step into adult fiction so I’m excited to pick this one up!

5. Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn

Golden Girls but make them badass assassins? Say less. This cozy mystery will be a great pallet cleanser between the heavier mystery and thrillers!

Others on my list:

The Last House Wife by Ashley Winstead

The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
