When it comes to styling the nightstand, I always like to think less is more. I may not always live by this motto, with the mountain of books you can find on our bedside table at any given time, but having less on top of your nightstand gives it a much more elevated look. There are a few different styling pieces I like to incorporate into styling the nightstand: a large table lamp, a decorative object, a floral vase, and a framed picture or painting. These simple elements will give you a functional and balanced piece of styled furniture.
Nightstands:
When it comes to choosing nightstands I generally prioritize functionality. Having optimal storage and a sleek, clean design are super important. Choosing the material of the nightstand I like to play off of other elements in the room. Lighter wood tones for a softer, airy feel while the metals are darker tones are great to help anchor the space.
Table Lamps:
Larger table lamps are what I like to reach for when styling a nightstand next to a king or queen size bed and smaller ones next to a double or twin. I also like the use of sconces above the headboard for additional lighting. Playing around your source of light is a great place to start when styling your nightstand.
Decorative Objects:
These can be found all over the home and the nightstand is no exception! To add some personality to the space, without feeling too cluttered, decorative objects are the way to go. They can be functional as well as decorative (a candle or clock)!
Art & Picture Frames:
Leaning art is one of my favorite ways to display pieces. Also mounting a small piece behind a lamp or decorative object is a great way to add some more character and create a “moment” for the nightstand. A classic way to do this as well is to add a picture frame. I love these different sizes and textures:
Vases:
For that pop of greenery we all love in a space, add a functional vase to the nightstand. Whether if it’s fresh or faux greenery or flowers, a vase can help bring in texture and depth. You can also style these pieces without any type of plants.
