I’m turning 29 today! Over the years my idea of age has changed so much. I certainly don’t feel 29. I’ve always said that my soul age is 23 and I still very much feel that, haha! I’ve met people who are younger than me who act or feel like they are mature beyond their years, and I’ve certainly met people who are much older than me who still have fun like they are kids again. The concept of age defying where you should be at in life just isn’t real to me. I’m grateful to see 29 and I’m excited to see what all this next year brings. I decided to compile a list of thoughts I hope to keep up (and to instill) in this next chapter. While some may sound cheesy, these just are simple reminders to myself and to remember not to take life so seriously, no matter what age.
1. Self reflection this past year has been so important to me and is something I will be carrying into the next.
2. Finding the small, simple joys in life to keep you grateful.
3. Give yourself grace.
4. Approach everything you do with love and good intentions.
5. Laughing at yourself keeps you humble.
6. Leave the pressures and judgements of others behind you.
7. Be quick to listen and slow to speak.
8. Invest in your skincare- because Lord knows them crows feet are ready and able to make an appearance!
9. Be present in the moment.
10. Eat what you want, but make room for the greens too.
11. Let go of wanting to be in control & let things play out on their own.
12. Just keep reading, reading, reading.
13. Drink more water because I know you’re not drinking enough.
14. Never underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep.
15. Your life doesn’t have to look the way everyone else wants or expects it to look.
16. Go somewhere new every year.
17. You’ll never regret a workout, but also make time for days of rest.
18. Learn to be okay with letting go.
19. Allow yourself to be uncomfortable at times- there is growth in that.
20. The margarita tastes better when you ask for it skinny- your head will thank you later.
21. Be vulnerable.
22. Stop question everything so much-go with your gut.
23. Always make time for selfcare, whatever that may look like for you that day.
24. Value your time.
25. Try being more optimistic rather than assuming the worst is going to happen.
26. Actually tell imposter syndrome to fuck right off.
27. Get outside more.
28. Host more dinner parties & game nights, because there can never be enough.
29. Meditation is powerful, make time for it.
