While we wait on the cooler weather to arrive here in Charleston, I have been slowly styling fall additions to our home. If the autumn season isn’t here yet outside, we can most certainly bring it inside. Mixing patterns and textures is and craft I enjoy doing every season. Creating an autumnal ambience is something I look forward to every year as fall is my favorite season.
Here are a few pieces that can be styled for the upcoming seasonal change:
Throw Pillows
A quick and cozy way to transform the spaces in your home for autumn is with the addition of some heavy textured and geometric pillows. In my opinion you can never have enough pillows, so changing them out season to season sounds like a dream! The rich tones and deep hues anchor your space to create a sense of warmth and comfort perfect for the cooler weather.
Decorative Objects
A great way to add a bold statement and mix of materials is through decorative objects. These interesting pieces can be used to create height, heaviness, or simply to create a topic of conversation. Styled on a coffee table, mantle, or shelf, these objects add the perfect finishing touch to any room.
Throw Blankets
Another comfy transitional piece for fall, and probably my favorite textile of all, is a cozy throw blanket. Styling throw blankets on living room chairs or over the end of the bed is a great way to add a homey and welcoming feeling in your space. Layering these different textures and patterns is one of my most-loved details in a home.
Art
While this could be taken as a large-scale and expensive transition, it doesn’t necessarily have to be. Smaller pieces of art or photographs can be switched out season to season in order to convey the time of year. Moodier tones and higher contrast works can be used around the home to create that sense of coziness the season brings.
Vases / Pots
Used to hold fall foliage or to be a stand-alone piece, vases and pots of different materials and textures can be used all around the home to add to the autumn ambience. Love the mix of the textures and tones from the three here:
