I’ll be the first to admit that I was a HUGE skeptic when the Peloton first came out. To me it seemed like an expensive price to pay just to cycle in place. However, I am here to say that I’m totally and completely a Peloton convert! Haha! Most, if not all, of our friends who own a Peloton absolutely love it and are just as obsessed as we are.
It is so convenient to be able to workout in our own space. I’m not sure I realized how much more motivated I would be to get a quick workout in just by having a machine in our home. The Peloton has easily become a ritual in our daily lives. While I am in no way a cycle master of any kind, but I am a fan of a quick and efficient cardio workout.
So what do I love about it?
1. The Community. I absolutely love the sense of community Peloton has created. I never feel as if I’m alone on a Peloton ride. Even in the comfort of your own home, it feels as if you’re in spin class at the gym. The trainers are upbeat and inspirational during every part of the ride. I truly enjoy them all and laugh out loud multiple times during classes. Laughing while working out? WHAT?!
2. The Convenience. For me, this is the best part about the Peloton- the convenience. The hardest part about going to the gym is just that; physically getting up to go. Preparing to go to the gym takes so much time and energy. Getting up early enough to make sure I have enough time to complete every activity I want to is exhausting in itself. Being able to role out of bed, put on anything you feel comfortable in (your outfit doesn’t have to match or look good, no one is going to see you!), and starting your workout immediately… it feels AMAZING. I’m also able to ride multiple times a day if I want since it’s right down the hall. I would never go to the gym multiple times a day.
3. The Statistics. This is were my Exercise Science brain comes into play. The amount of feedback you get on your ride with a Peloton is unmatched to anything I get at the gym. I always wear my apple watch when I workout, and that gives great feedback, however it doesn’t give me a “control” or base workout to compare my results. I love seeing how I did in comparison with what the trainer expected from the class.
4. The SWEAT. I absolutely get drenched during these classes and it doesn’t take long! This isn’t something I would ever think I would enjoy while working out, but I am now fully embracing getting DRENCHED. Sounds absolutely gross…but if you know, you know!
