Minimal Summer Makeup

17 June

During the summer I like to simplify my makeup routine and amp up my skincare. Here in Charleston it gets warm as early as May and by mid June the humidity and sweaty upper lips are at an all time high. So instead of wearing a full face a makeup, I opt for a few products that will get the job done.

Here are a few beauty products that have been on my radar and in my makeup bag for this summer:

During the warmer months I often like to leave the house with a nice spray or self tan, a few coats of mascara, and a tinted lip balm. These few products make me feel put together and give me that fresh summer look. The bareMinerals Strength & Length Mascara not only makes my lashes appear longer- it also adds so much volume. I often use a couple of mascaras at a time to achieve this look, but it’s nice to only reach for one that does exactly what you need. I can’t speak yet to if the serum is effective or not- so I’ll have to touch back about that. The one lip balm that you will constantly find in my bag this season is going to be this one by Melixir. It is so creamy and hydrating on the lips. The tint it gives off is the perfect amount of color for that “makeup no makeup” look ( I got the color Carmel ). I found these on Amazon! They are so affordable and I can’t wait to try more colors.

For a bit more of the fuller coverage look, I like to reach for the DRMTLGY Tinted Moisturizer. I love the glow this gives to the face as well as the SPF 46 it has in it. To achieve that healthy / full eyebrow look, Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel is my must-have. It keeps my brow hairs in place and doesn’t feel too heavy on the face. When it comes to eye makeup, I’ve never been a fan of a very heavy look. Sometimes I will just take my bronzer on a large blending brush and do a few swipes in the crease to add a bit of dimension. If I’m looking to add a bit more to the eye, I’ll reach for something with a bit more shimmer. I LOVE a good cream eyeshadow stick. This one from Laura Mercier is great to add in the inner corner or on the lid for and extra pop!

There are a couple products that I’m looking forward to trying out this season. One is going to be the Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray from Charlotte Tilbury. I’ve used the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, which I love, but would also like to try something new that can blend my makeup a bit more, and the reviews on this state it does just that. The OGGE Crystal Contour Collection has been on my radar for quite sometime. I love the natural look these products give and can’t wait to try it out soon!
