Being raised in the Lowcountry, I am no stranger to delicious seafood. In particular, oysters. Personally, I am not very picky when it comes to oysters, I just simply love to eat them. From oyster roasts to fine dining selections, raw oysters vs. fried oysters vs. grilled oyster rockefellers, and without or with all the toppings; we have had our fair share of what the restaurants in Charleston have to offer.
I’ve narrowed down my top contenders of where to get oysters in Charleston, SC :
OBSTINATE DAUGHTER – this. restaurant. OD is hands down my favorite restaurant in Charleston. Located on Sullivan’s Island, SC, Obstinate Daughter has everything your savory heart could want: pasta, seafood, and pizza. Their seafood it always fresh and their oysters are no exception. I love to pair their oysters with their octopus and lobster roll!
167 RAW – You will most likely have to wait to eat here, as it is walk-ins only, but it couldn’t be more worth it. The crispy oysters are absolutely delicious, and are probably the best crispy oysters I have ever had! 167 is my favorite place in Charleston to get crudo and ceviche as well!
LEON’S – Leon’s Oyster Shop always has a great selection of raw oysters. One of my favorite meals to get is the crispy oyster roll. It was once named ‘The Best Sandwich in SC by People Magazine! The marinated cucumber salad is an absolute must-have as a side. One of my favorite cocktails in Charleston is their Little Bird which contains tequila, grapefruit liqueur, rose water and lime – such a refresher during the summer months! (or year round, lol)
PEARLZ OYSTER BAR – This is a great relaxed atmosphere if you’re looking to go to the bar for a couple of drinks and grab some delicious appetizers. They shuck the oysters right in front of you so you know they are fresh! They always have a great beer selection and their tuna tartare never disappoints.
HANK’S SEAFOOD – Hank’s Seafood is one of the biggest fine dining establishments in Charleston. Rated Best Seafood Restaurant in Charleston, their traditional interior and delicious extensive menu makes them loved by many; and rightfully so. The oyster casinos consists of smoked bacon, asiago cheese, and garlic butter. Are you drooling yet?
